How to take modelling digitals that get you noticed
Agencies decide in seconds. Here is exactly what to shoot, wear and send so scouts can see you clearly.
Digitals (or "polaroids") are simple, unretouched photos that show an agency what you really look like today. They matter more than any professional shoot.
What to shoot
- Headshot — face straight to camera, neutral expression, then one smiling.
- Profile — left and right side of your face.
- Full length — standing straight, arms relaxed, feet slightly apart.
- Three-quarter — from mid-thigh up, body slightly turned.
How to shoot them
- Use daylight near a window. Avoid direct sun and flash.
- Stand in front of a plain, light wall.
- Ask someone to hold the phone at chest height — not above or below.
- Shoot in the highest resolution your phone allows. No filters, no beauty mode.
What to wear
Fitted, simple clothing: a black or white tank top and skinny jeans, or swimwear for full-length shots. Hair natural and away from the face, little or no make-up.
Before you send
Check the photos are sharp, recent (last three months) and show your natural hair colour. Then apply online — it takes five minutes and is always free.
